Flagstaff World Breastfeeding Week 2012 Events


This year's events will be throughout the month of August in recognition of National Breastfeeding Month 


August 1st - 31st
Breastfeeding Information and Community Resources Display at Flagstaff Public Library
300 W Aspen Ave.

Wednesday, August 1
Café Ole, 119 S. San Francisco; all day 10% of all profits donated to ABC

Friday, August 3
First Friday Artwalk at Sundara Fine Art Cafe & Boutique, downtown Rte. 66, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Display and breastfeeding information

Saturday, August 4
The Big Latch On at 10:30 am at North Country Healthcare, 2920 N. 4th St. in the Community Rm located in the OB Wing.  Registration for the Big Latch On is at 10:00 am.  In conjunction with the
La Leche League of Flagstaff monthly meeting at 9:30 am.

Friday, August 10
Webcast breastfeeding lecture by Dr. Thomas Hale, author of Medications and Mothers' Milk. Flagstaff Medical Center- Medical Staff Conference Rm. 1200 N Beaver St. East Campus. Understanding The Past- Planning For The Future
Celebrating 10 years of WHO/UNICEF's Global Stragety
for Infant and Young Child Feeding 

Objectives
1. To recall what has happened in the past 20 years on infant and young child feeding (IYCF).

2. To celebrate successes and achievements nationally, regionally and globally and showcase national work at     global level.

3. To assess the status of implementation of the Global Strategy for Infant and Young Child Feeding (GS).
4. To call for action to bridge the remaining gaps in policy and programmes on breastfeeding and IYCF.
5. To draw public attention on the state of policy and programmes on breastfeeding and IYCF.

Nursing Mother's Rest Stop at the county fair September 2nd - 5th

The Arizona Breastfeeding Coalition provides a space every year at the Coconino County Fair to give nursing mothers a place to breastfeed their babies, change diapers, get water and rest. Look for us there if you need a break!

2011 World Breastfeeding Week in Flagstaff

Breastfeeding is most successful when mothers are supported by a network of family, friends, employers and the community. Show your support by attending World Breastfeeding Events in your community.


Here are the events in Flagstaff this year:


Sunday July 31st: WBW kick-off at the Flagstaff Community Farmer's Market (211 W Aspen Ave). Information and a raffle. 8am-12pm 

Monday August 1st: Open house at Womancare Midwifery (20 E. Cherry Ave.) Maternity and infant clothing exchange,  refreshments and a free raffle. 10am-3pm 

Tuesday August 2nd: Screening of Latching On: The Politics of Breastfeeding In America at East Flagstaff Library (3000 N 4th St) 6-8 pm 

Wednesday August 3rd: Cafe Ole' restaurant (121 S San Francisco St). 10% of the day's profit go to ABC.

Thursday August 4th: Webcast breastfeeding lecture by Dr. Jack Newman at FMC, McGee Auditorium, 9am-4pm

Friday August 5th: First Friday Art Walk at Sundara (22 E Rt 66) Breastfeeding art, information and free raffle. 6pm-9pm

Saturday August 6th: Potluck Picnic with La Leche League of Flagstaff at Sawmill Park (703 E Sawmill Rd). Children's activities hosted by Willow Bend Environmental Education Center, bounce house, raffle and giveaways 10:30am-1pm
